Donald Harris

Donald F. Harris, Jr., Chair

Donald Harris has been active in Bloomfield for many years, most recently as the town’s deputy mayor. Mr. Harris is a past principal of Bloomfield high school, vice principal of Carmen Arace middle school and director of athletics. Mr. Harris is also a graduate of Bloomfield high school and earned a bachelor’s degree from Springfield College, and master’s degree and sixth-year administration certificate from the University of Hartford.

Additionally, Mr. Harris is the past president of the Bloomfield chapter of Rotary International, he has served on the board of Directors of the Literacy Volunteers, Graylodge Shelter for Women, Seabury, and the Amistad Center for Art and Culture.

 

Howard Steven Frydman

Howard Steven Frydman,Vice Chair

Howard Steven Frydman has served as General Manager and Executive Director of Bloomfield Access Television for the past 28 years. Mr. Frydman has worked in the field of television, radio and print media for over 35 years and has coordinated many local and statewide public events. Mr. Frydman has also served politically in various elected positions including: Bloomfield Library Board of Director, Selectmen, Registrar of Voters and Justice of the Peace. Howard additionally serves on the Board of Directors for Bloomfield’s Continuing Education and Bloomfield Federation Homes. Howard was a founding member of the Bloomfield Winterfest/Light Up The Town Holiday Event.

His movie, theater and food reviews have been syndicated in several newspapers in Connecticut including: "The Airport News" the official newspaper for Connecticut's Bradley International Airport, The North Central News, CT Business Journal, Bloomfield Messenger and BATV . He is the recipient of the Connecticut "Hometown Hero" Award, Connecticut Jaycee Outstanding Citizen Award and the National Army Citizen Service Award. A Graduate of Central Connecticut State University majoring in Sociology and Bloomfield resident for over 55 years.

Joseph Wilkerson, Jr., Secretary

Joseph Wilkerson Jr. is a Supervisor in the Investment Planning, Finance, and Administration Division at Eversource Energy and the Deputy Director/ HR Director at Hartford Communities That Care. Mr. Wilkerson is married and has two children in both the Bloomfield and CREC School Systems and has been elected to a four-year term on the Bloomfield Board of Education. He is a visionary and is known for his dynamic leadership and experience in Business, Public Administration, and Project Management. His business acumen spans across Strategic Planning, Financial Management, Policy, and Regulatory Compliance.

Mr. Wilkerson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Springfield College where he graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into the Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society in Social Sciences, and has earned his Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Connecticut School of Business.

Moreover, Mr. Wilkerson is native to the Greater Hartford Area whose background encompasses grassroot social service work where he has organized and implemented several clinical-based in-school and afterschool programs for at-risk students in collaboration with the State of Connecticut Department of Children and Families (CT DCF) and Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE); managed in-school mentoring initiatives for truant and at-risk students in partnership with Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP); and developed drug, alcohol, social and life skills educational programs for adolescent youth sponsored through private benefactors. He believes “The best way to find yourself, is to lose yourself in service to others.” – Mahatma Gandhi

 

Robert Ike

Robert W. Ike

Robert Ike has served as a Bloomfield Board of Education member for 12 years. Mr. Ike attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia and Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. He is currently serving as Commissioner of the Bloomfield Housing Authority and Chairman of the Bloomfield Republican Town Committee. Mr. Ike has served on the Bloomfield Town Council and volunteered as part of the Bloomfield Library Board, the Bloomfield Parks and Recreation Committee and as Secretary of the Carmen Arace School Building Committee.

Thomas Moore

Thomas Moore is retired Assistant Supervisor for the State of Connecticut Judicial Court. He is also a United States Army Veteran.

Mr. Thomas Moore graduated from Hartford Public Schools and graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University. He serves on several local committees, is a member of the New Testament Church and is a volunteer at Bloomfield Rehabilitation Healthcare. Mr. Moore moved to Bloomfield in 1996. After leaving Bloomfield for a brief time, he returned as a resident in 2016. Thomas is the father of two young women who graduated from Bloomfield Public Schools.

Mr. Moore was recently appointed to a four year term on the Board of Education. As a new member of the Board, he looks forward to making Bloomfield schools a first class educational institution by working with students, teachers, administrators and families in seeing that our schools are successful and meet the educational needs of our students.

Lynette Easmon

Lynette Easmon is a Managing Paralegal for Litigation and eDiscovery at Voya Financial. She currently serves as the Chair of the Bloomfield Democratic Town Committee, a member of the Town Council Golf Sub-Committee and Board member for Ironwood Community Partners. She is also a member of the Carmen Arace Middle School Parent Teacher Organization as well as the Chair and Treasurer of WASE (Women Accelerating Social Equity).

Mrs. Easmon received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice from the University of Connecticut and her Master’s degree in Science and Criminal Justice from Albertus Magnus College. Lynette and her family have resided in Bloomfield for over sixteen years. Her two children currently attend Bloomfield Public Schools.

Through her work and advocacy on the Bloomfield Board of Education, Mrs. Easmon intends to ensure students receive the resources they need to be a success in school and life.



Femi Bogleassegai


Femi Bogle-Assegai

Femi Bogle-Assegai selected education as her professional path at the age of sixteen, and has been committed to the "education" of people for the last forty years.

Her work in the field has been at many levels, within both private and public institutions, in England, the United States, Africa and the Caribbean. Today, she is a retired educator, however Ms. Bogle-Assegai continues to work as an Adjunct Professor within the Connecticut State University system.

At this time her primary focus revolves around the volunteer work with young people as the CEO of Sankofa-Kuumba, a community based non-profit Arts organization. Femi Bogle-Assegai is directly responsible for directing the strategic arts programming for the organization. This includes, but is not limited to, the writing and securing of grants from the CT Humanities and the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.

Sankofa-Kuumba's vision is one that aligns well with Ms. Bogle-Assegai’s own, that is: “the promotion of greater understanding and knowledge of the rich history and culture of Africa and the African diaspora" to the young people of Greater Hartford, which includes Bloomfield’s children.
