Student and Family Assistance Centers

The Student and Family Assistance Center (SFAC) is a new initiative within the Bloomfield Public Schools. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education - Office of Elementary and Secondary Education, the Jump Start to Success initiative has the following goals:

1. To increase the counselor-to-student ratio, and

2. To decrease disciplinary offenses.

The Program objectives are to:

1: Institute, implement, and sustain a kindergarten through sixth grade integrated district-wide model of elementary counseling at Laurel Elementary School, Metacomet Elementary School, and Carmen Arace Intermediate School.

2: Improve children's academic, social and emotional competence.

3. Engage and support families to ensure student success.

The SFAC is the behavioral component of the Scientifically Researched Based Intervention (SRBI) framework and encompasses a multi-tiered approach to prevention and intervention.
