Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Facilities Department to enhance the educational process of the Bloomfield Schools by providing a clean, safe and healthy environment in which to learn, teach and work.

Below is a video produced by the state to assist staff and parents in understanding the importance of complying with he 2009 CT School Green Cleaning Products law (Conn. Gen. Stat. Sections 10-220 [a], 10-231g) which clearly states "No parent, guardian, teacher or staff member may bring into the school facility any consumer product which is intended to clean, deodorize, sanitize or disinfect."

As part of its efforts in providing a safe and healthy environment the Bloomfield Public Schools utilizes a web based maintenance work request system that includes concerns with indoor air quality. Work requests for each of the district buildings are evaluated and prioritized to address life safety issues and investigate any complaints or concerns regarding indoor air quality issues.

In addition all of the schools were tested for Radon during the 2006-2007 school year and retested in 2012 as required by the Department of Public Health. The final test reports indicate that the Radon level in all of the buildings in the Bloomfield Public School District are well below the limits established by the EPA.
