Instructional Leadership

REV. BPS CAO Logo 10.26

The Office of Curriculum and Instructional Leadership is responsible to improve teaching and learning districtwide in order to maximize achievement and career outcomes for all Bloomfield students. To raise the level of educational attainment for our schools, all instructional decisions and practices must be both researched-based and highly effective. In addition, curriculum must reflect the challenging rigor of current state and national standards while aligning with both formative and summative assessments. The Office of Curriculum and Instructional Leadership will actively promote, support, and model these practices.

Continuous professional development from leaders in the field is the pathway by which our entire school community can master proven instructional strategies. Technical assistance and job-embedded professional learning is also offered to complete the foundation for continuous growth. Through central office collaboration, consistent feedback focused on instruction and clear objectives, our school leaders, teachers, students, and families will have the necessary tools to accomplish the Superintendent's vision and goals.

The Office of Curriculum and Instructional Leadership promotes inclusive practices for all students. To ensure that every student, regardless of ability, participates in a rigorous, meaningful curriculum, the Office of Curriculum and Instructional Leadership encompasses Student Support Services, the Department of Assessment, Evaluation, and Research, the Learning Academy of Bloomfield, and the Visual and Performing Arts Department. This unique, integrative design at central office represents the change we expect to see in our district: high expectations and appropriate engagement strategies for every student (Himmele & Himmele, 2011; Ainsworth, 2010; Hattie, 2009).
