A team of Bloomfield High School seniors won first place in an inaugural international Made to Move Communities Global Health Challenge, sponsored by Otis Worldwide Corporations.

The team of Brittany Washington, Brianna Washington, Lydia Nyarko, Reanna Barclay, and Joshua Brown presented innovative ideas to improve contactless grocery shopping and delivery during a pandemic.

Their suggestions included building conveyor belts to streamline in-car pick up, using technology-like drones to deliver groceries and UV lighting to help sanitize groceries.

Team BHS won first place in the Americas competition. Second place in the Americas competition went to a student-team from Brazil. Otis conducted similar student challenges in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. This event called on the students to collaborate, communicate and use technology to provide solutions for a perplexing global problem.
