Women's History Month
Throughout the month of March, students will celebrate women's accomplishments and the contributions that they have made to make life better for others. Most women history makers equip, empower, and encourage not only women, but men and the community to believe they can achieve.
BPS Family & Community Engagement
Welcome! We invite you to become a part of the equation for your youth's success!
Our Vision Statement:
The Bloomfield Public Schools will have thriving home, school, and community partnerships that value and engage the knowledge and skills of families and community stakeholders to enhance overall student achievement.
Black History Month Updates
Black History Month is the time to appreciate and acknowledge the achievements of African American men and women and their roles in U.S. history. Each School participated in an array of Activities to celebrate Black History Month. With great appreciation to 21st Century Community Learning Grant Program, students attending Laurel and Metacomet Elementary Schools have the opportunity to join the S.T.E.A.M. COVID Protocols & Self Screening
The safety of our children, staff and families remains the district’s highest priority as we protect our community from this global health crisis, known as COVID-19 (Coronavirus).
HEALTH DATA AND VACCINATIONS
Health officials continue to advise that getting fully vaccinated, including a COVID-19 booster shot, provides a layer of protection that will likely prevent extreme symptoms, if infected. Below is additional information regarding COVID-19 school-testing sites, test kits, vaccine clinics and reporting protocols for school staff and students:
Positive Notifications

Home Test Kits
Bloomfield has recently received a very limited supply of home testing kits for staff and students who are experiencing immediate COVID-19 like symptoms so they can be tested at home, under certain conditions. We have precise recommendations from the state on how our nursing staff should be distributing and prioritizing these test kits.
Testing Sites
Staff members and students who are asymptomatic can be tested at their respective school locations. Please contact the building principal for more information. If staff members are symptomatic and want to get tested, please see staff administration.
We request that all parents/guardians and community members complete a daily self screening for yourself and each child, staying steadfast with health and safety protocols to protect yourself and others. Remember the three Ws:
• Wear a face mask, when and where appropriate.
• Watch your distance. Practice physical distancing (up to six feet of separation where feasible)
• Wash your hands often. Cover your coughs.
Thank you for your cooperation.

District Begins New Student-Development Program
Bloomfield Public Schools is implementing a Talented and Gifted program this month that will provide more rigor and advanced content to selected students in grades 4-8.
District and school leaders have been discussing the viability of such a program for several months, as part of last year’s community conversations that established a new vision for a Portrait of a Graduate in Bloomfield.
Key characteristics for a successful graduate were identified, including:
· Critical Thinkers
· Communicators
· Problem Solvers
· Adaptability
The Talented & Gifted program is an extension of those community conversations.
School Family Partnership/PTO Meetings
School Family Partnership/PTO meetings are opportunities for Bloomfield Public Schools staff and Families is to support our students both inside and outside of the school as well as open doors and create opportunities to grow and help students acquire skills to best prepare them for post-secondary experiences.
