Parents/guardians of students may now create a single PowerSchool account that allows access to grading, attendance and course registration information for all of their students attending Bloomfield schools that use Parent Portal. This "Single Sign On" account links all your students to one account. More than one parent or guardian may create their own account.

When you click on the Parent Portal link for the first time, the PowerSchool Login window will open. Do not enter a UserName or Password. You must first create an account.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

I have been using the Parent Portal to access my student’s grades and attendance. Do I need to create a new account?

Yes. To increase security and enhance communication with parents/guardians, we have updated our PowerSchool Parent Portal to a single sign-on program. This requires a one-time set-up of a new account.

How do I create a new Parent Portal account?

From the PowerSchool Parent Portal webpage, follow the instructions under “Create a PowerSchool Parent Portal Account”.

Will students need to create an account in order to access their information through the portal?

Students do not need to create an account. They should use their new username and password to log into the PowerSchool public portal just as before.

How do I get the Access ID and Access Password for my student?

The Access ID and Access Password for each student are listed on a letter mailed to parents/guardians. If you do not have the letter, please contact your student’s school. Please note that, at this time, only Carmen Arace Middle School, Global Experience Magnet School, and Bloomfield High School are using the parent portal.

I created an account, but now I cannot remember my Username and/or Password. How can I access my account?

On the sign- in screen for the portal, click on the link Having Trouble Signing In? just below the password field. Then select either the Forgot Password or Forgot User Name tab on the next screen. Replacement User Name and/or Password information will be sent to you via the email address you provided when you set up the account for the first time.

What if the Access ID and Access Password for my student does not work to link my student to my account?

First, check to be sure that you have accurately entered the Access ID and Access Password exactly as indicated in your letter. If you are still unable to link your student, please call your student’s school for assistance.

Can more than one parent/guardian link their account to a student?

Yes; using the Access ID and Access Password, more than one parent/guardian can set up an account and link to the same student(s). However, each account must have a unique email address.

How do I add a student to an existing parent portal account?

From the PowerSchool Parent Portal webpage, follow the instructions under “Linking Additional Student Accounts”.

The Benefits of Strong Passwords

The role of passwords in securing your student’s information is often understated. Providing online access to information is an important part of your participating in your student’s education. That access comes with a small amount of risk of an unauthorized person gaining access to the information. Therefore, secure passwords provide the first line of defense against unauthorized access to your student’s information.

PowerSchool has a feature that checks the complexity of the password that you use to ensure that it meets certain industry standard rules. PowerSchool requires that your password contain at least eight characters, one upper case and one lower case letter, a number and a special character. A special character is @,!,$, and #.

A strong password:

  • Is at least eight characters long.
  • Does not contain your user name or real name.
  • Does not contain a complete dictionary word.
  • Is significantly different from previous passwords. Passwords that increment (Password1, Password2, Password3 ...) are not strong.
  • Is not a dictionary word (even spelled backward) such as spelling password drowssap (password spelled backward).
  •  Do not use series like abcde or 12345 or 54321.
  •  It may be helpful to think of a phrase and turn it into a password such as “UConn basketball is number 1”. UCbi#0ne,  “Four Score and seven years ago”. FS@SyAg0, or a song lyric or passage that is memorable to you.
  • You can also use the initials and ages of family members or any other combination that would appear random.

Lastly, it is important to remember that for your security PowerSchool will lock an account if there are five incorrect attempts.  Please make your password easy for you to remember and hard for others to guess. Schools will only reset you password if you come to the school with identification.  We cannot be certain who is calling or whether your email has been hacked, so for your security we will not reset a password based on a telephone call or email to the school.
