BHS’ Coleman Recognized with CT Women’s Leadership Award

Condoleezza Coleman

Condoleezza Coleman, a senior at Bloomfield High School, has been selected as the 2022 Connecticut Distinguished Young Woman Award.

Started in 1958, Distinguished Young Women runs a national scholarship program that inspires high school girls to develop their full potential, continue their education and prepare for a successful future.

As part of the award, Condoleezza has earned a $500 college scholarship and will be eligible for other scholarships from the program. She will travel to Mobile, Ala. in June for the 65th Annual National Distinguished Young Woman Program.

“Condoleezza Coleman was evaluated in the five areas of the Distinguished Young Women program: Scholastics, Interview, Fitness, Talent, and Self-Expression, “said Lisa Lawley Burnette; National Field Director, Distinguished Young Women. “She was selected on the strength of her academic career, leadership skills, interpersonal relationships, and community service. We are so very delighted to have her represent Connecticut.’’

Her teachers describe Condoleezza as conscientious, compassionate and positive. She has a special interest in architecture and has engaged in rigorous college-preparatory courses. Condoleezza has earned Honor Roll status for four consecutive years. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society.

In addition to being a student and community leader, Condoleezza is also a valued member of both the track and field and volleyball teams.
